Hibiscus Bounty
September 14, 2008
I've been wanting to put this post together for a while. This year was a wonderful one for hibiscus flowers in our garden:
These are wonderful. They bloom without any fuss every year and reseed all over the place.
We planted this one in the center of the bed because we thought it would be tall. It bloomes about a foot off the ground. We'll be moving it this fall!
Okay, it's more of a lily photograph, but there's a hibiscus slowly unfurling there also.
The only flowers there I would have recognised as hibiscus are in photos #3, 4, and 6. (I think.) The ones with the solid single-petal flowers. Call me ignorant. But they're all beautiful, so what does it matter?

So pretty! Maybe you can collect me some hibiscus seeds too? :-)

So beautiful! I especially love the creamy one with a deep purple center. Your garden is just gorgeous.

Alias Clio: Some of these don't grow much north of where we are (NC) - particularly #1. Some of the rest may be in the same family, though not precisely hibiscus (I've lost their tags). They've all done wonderfully this year.
Emily: I can collect seeds. And I've got a plant of the first picture which is growing in the wrong spot if you would like to take it home.
DCup: Thank you! That's one of my favorites too. It comes up later than some of the others so I think it's gone, and then, when it does come up, it blooms almost all the way until frost.
