Umstead Park - Reedy Creek Section

If you live in NC (or anyplace else that had beautiful weather today), I hope you got a chance to get outside.  It was lovely - sunny and highs in the 60's.

We had breakfast over at my mother's house with my sister and her family - who will be heading back up north tomorrow.  After noon, they headed on to visit with friends, and we stopped by Umstead Park in Raleigh for a hike on the way home.

We lived just a few miles from Umstead when I was in high school so it was the first state park I got to know.  It's not as flashy as some of the other ones in the state, but it's a good place to go for a hike.  Every so often, someone proposes to sell it since it's right next to the airport.  I hope they always fail.

Today, there were a lot of people hiking, running, and walking dogs (or being walked by them, in some cases).  There's a bridge over the creek at the bottom of a hill, and most people were going to the trail on the right.  From the bridge, the right hand trail looks more dramatic.  If you've been reading my blog, you can tell which trail we took.

Dear husband took lots of pictures; here are a few.

The creek was flooded from all the rain we had last week.
